Haughton, LA – An elderly woman was hospitalized and died following a two-vehicle collision in Bossier Parish, reports KSLA News.
Police say the two-car collision happened just after 9AM when a 2014 GMC Acadia failed to yield the right of way while attempting a left-hand turn from the eastbound side of US-80 onto Oakhaven Drive. The GMC hit a 2001 Chevy S-10, which was traveling the opposite direction on US-80. The Chevy overturned upon impact.
Police have identified the driver of the Chevy as 78-year-old Dorothy Hughart. They say Hughart was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. She was hospitalized in Shreveport and later died from her injuries.
The driver of the GMC has not been named, but police say she was not hurt in the accident.
Authorities are still investigating the accident but do not suspect impairment for either driver at this time.
