Tractor driver killed in Sabine Co. crash involving semi

SABINE PARISH, LA – A 68-year-old man died Monday afternoon after an 18-wheeler struck his tractor from behind on a highway in north-central Sabine Parish, reports KALB 5.

Police say the incident happened around 1:20 p.m. on the northbound side of US-171 between Noble and Zwolle.

The investigation thus far indicates that a semi-truck rear-ended the tractor after the driver of the tractor changed lanes.

The victim, identified as Edwin G. Procell, died at the scene of the collision.

The driver of the semi-truck did not sustain injuries in the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
