Beauregard Parish, LA – A 19-year-old passenger died Sunday in a single-vehicle car accident that happened at an intersection just east of Dequincy, reports KPLC 7 News.
Police say the incident happened around 4 a.m. near the intersection of Camp Edgewood Road and Pilgrim Rest Road.
The preliminary investigation suggests that an eastbound 2000 Ford pickup truck veered from the roadway before overcorrecting, returning to the road, and flipping over.
The passenger in the pickup truck was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene of the crash. Authorities identified him as Kyler Louis Lacy.
The driver of the Ford, identified as 2o-year-old Chad Garren Cooley, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Speed and impairment were likely factors in the crash. A full investigation is underway.
