LOCKPORT, LA – A 38-year-old man died when his pickup truck collided with another vehicle on the highway in Lockport on Tuesday evening, reports Houma Today.
Police say the incident happened around 6 p.m. on LA-1 near Norma Lane, which is just south of Bayou Lafourche.
The investigation thus far suggests that for unknown reasons, a northbound 2005 GMC Canyon began to spin in the road. The pickup truck veered onto the southbound side of the highway and collided with a 2016 Kia Soul.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Marcelo Garcia-Lopez, died at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the Kia SUV sustained minor injuries, while a passenger in the Kia suffered moderate injuries. Medics transported the passenger to a hospital for treatment.
