DENHAM SPRINGS, LA – Impairment is suspected of being a contributing factor in a head-on wreck that claimed the life of a 17-year-old girl Monday.
This collision happened around 1 a.m. at the westbound I-12 and South Range Avenue junction. One driver had struck another automobile driven by the teenager, identified as Blakeleigh Weems, a high school student at Walker High School.
First responders rushed Weems to a hospital, where she later died.
It is unclear if it was Weems who was intoxicated or the other motorist.
