Narrative
THIBODAUX, LA – Two men died Thursday, and a third person sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash in northwest Lafourche Parish.
The accident happened at night at the intersection of LA-1 and LA-3185 in the city of Thibodaux. This is just south of Bayou Lafourche.
Police say that an southbound vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle when the driver of the former car neglected to stop at the red light.
Both drivers sustained fatal injuries. Authorities identified the victims as 19-year-old Trent Truxillo and 44-year-old Johnnie Bennett Jr.
Medics transported a passenger from the southbound vehicle to an area hospital with critical injuries.
Authorities say the driver of the southbound vehicle may have been intoxicated at the time of the collision.
A full investigation is underway.
