Narrative
METAIRIE, LA – A 78-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman died Monday in a chain-reaction crash along the interstate in northern Jefferson Parish.
The accident occurred just after midnight on the westbound side of I-10 near Bonnabel Boulevard, which is east of North Causeway Boulevard in the city of Metairie.
Police say the incident started when a Kia Soul and a Toyota Tundra collided. The former vehicle remained disables along the side of the interstate, and was struck by a Toyota Corolla. Next, an Infiniti G35 hit the Corolla, and a 2014 BMW X5 hit the Infiniti G35.
The drivers of the Corolla and the Infiniti G35 died at the scene. Authorities identified them as Carlos Martinez and Betty Savoie.
No other injuries have been referenced in connection to the accident.
