MARRERO, LA – The driver and passenger of a motorized scooter died after a pickup truck struck their vehicle early Friday morning before fleeing the scene, reports WBRZ 2.
Police say the incident happened around 3:30 a.m. in the center lane of the westbound side of the Westbank Expressway.
The investigation thus far suggests that a westbound pickup truck rear-ended the scooter. The force of the collision threw both the scooter driver and passenger from the vehicle.
Both the driver and passenger of the scooter died from injuries sustained in the crash even though they were wearing seatbelts when it happened.
Police are actively searching for a 2004 white extended cab Ford F-150 with damage to the front.
