Cyclist killed in Jefferson Davis Parish hit-and-run

JENNINGS, LA – A 73-year-old bicyclist died in a hit-and-run collision with an SUV on State Highway 1126 in Jennings on Monday morning.

KLFY 10 reports that the accident happened around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection with Farm Supply Road.

Police say the bicyclist was travelling east on State Highway 1126 when a white SUV struck him from behind and fled the scene. The cyclist died at the scene of the crash.

Authorities identified the victim as Jerry Hughes from Welsh.

Investigators are looking for a white SUV with damage to the hood and windshield. Anyone with information should contact Louisiana State Police.
