EUNICE, LA – A Tuesday morning accident involving a pickup truck killed an eight-year-old girl on a highway in Eunice, reports The Acadiana Advocate.
Police say the incident happened at 10 a.m. on Eunice Iota Highway, or LA-91, near Arpent Drive.
For unknown reasons, the driver of a pickup truck veered from the roadway and flipped after crashing into a culvert.
The driver of the pickup truck and a rear passenger were both properly restrained at the time of the accident and suffered only minor injuries.
The victim in the crash was an unrestrained passenger in the front seat of the pickup truck. The force of the collision threw her from the vehicle, and she died at the scene.
Authorities do not suspect impairment on the part of the driver. The incident remains under investigation.
