Thibodaux, LA –A 57-year-old bicyclist died on Thursday when he was hit by a car and ejected into traffic on LA-308 in Lafourche Parish, WWL 4 reports.
State police have identified the bicyclist as Jerome Cooter. They say Cooter was hit by a 2022 Hyundai Accent as he was biking north on LA-308 around 5AM. He was thrown from his bicycle and hit by two additional vehicles, which were also headed north on LA-308.
Cooter was not wearing a helmet, and police say that his bicycle lacked rear lighting.
The drivers of the three cars that hit Cooter did not sustain any injuries.
Police say the driver of the Hyundai was not intoxicated. Toxicology results for Cooter are still pending.
