HOUMA, LA – A 21-year-old bicyclist has died from injuries sustained in a collision last Tuesday with a pickup truck on LA-660 in Terrebonne Parish, WWL reports.
State police have identified the deceased as Colby Prestenback from Gray, LA.
They say the accident happened around 5 p.m. when Prestenback failed to stop at a red light while riding south on the northbound shoulder of LA-660. He was hit by an eastbound 2006 Ford F-150 at the intersection with Bayou Gardens Boulevard. Authorities say that the driver of the Ford had a green light at the time of the collision.
Prestenback was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Ford did not sustain any injuries, and a voluntary breath sample showed that he was not impaired at the time of the wreck. Police also collected a toxicology sample from Prestenback but have not yet released the results.
