HOUMA, LA – A 58-year-old male pedestrian died Thursday night when a vehicle struck him on a highway in northeast Terrebonne Parish, reports WAFB 9.
Police say the incident happened around 8:45 p.m. on LA-24 near Stadium Drive, which is just southwest of Bayou Terrebonne in Houma.
The investigation so far indicates that a southbound 2013 Dodge Charger struck the pedestrian as he walked across the highway in dark clothing.
Authorities identified the victim as Albert Legarde of Houma.
The driver of the Dodge did not sustain injuries in the crash. Police do not suspect impairment on his part, but took toxicology samples at the scene from both the driver and Legarde.
