Narrative
LORANGER, LA – A woman and a 13-year-old boy were sent to the hospital, and a 14-year-old boy died following a fiery ATV crash on Gilderport Road around 2 p.m. Monday. The 13-year-old boy and 14-year-old boy operated the ATV and lost control of it before hitting a ditch and several fences. The vehicle then caught on fire, and the 14-year-old got trapped underneath. The woman, the 14-year-old boy’s mother, tried to rescue her son from the burning vehicle but was unsuccessful, as he suffered fatal injuries. The woman was hospitalized for severe burns, and the 13-year-old sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. The 13-year-old also suffered several broken bones and was taken to Children’s Hospital. Officials believe speed could have been a contributing factor but are investigating this detail and other circumstances leading to the crash.
