Vehicle strikes motorcycle in Gonzales, killing 1

GONZALES, LA – A 20-year-old motorcyclist died, and his passenger went to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision in central Ascension Parish on Tuesday, reports WAFB 9.

Police say the incident happened just after 10 p.m. near the intersection of LA-931, or Germany Road, and LA-44.

The investigation thus far suggests that a 2015 Toyota Corolla struck a 2019 Kawasaki Motorcycle while turning left from a parking lot onto LA-44. At the time of the crash, the motorcycle was travelling northbound.

The force of the collision threw the motorcyclist and his passenger from the bike. Both people were wearing safety helmets, but the driver of the motorcycle died at the scene of the crash. Authorities identified him as Ashton Anderson of Prairieville.

Medics transported the juvenile passenger to the hospital with moderate injuries.

A full investigation of the accident is underway.
