MARRERO, LA – A 65-year-old driver died, and three other people went to the hospital after two vehicles collided in Jefferson Parish on Sunday night, reports WDSU 6.
Police say the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ames Boulevard and Trinity Drive, which is near Pard Park.
The initial investigation suggests that a southbound pickup truck veered into a northbound lane and crashed into a car.
The driver of the car died at the scene of the accident. Authorities identified the victim as Rene Zeigler of Marrero.
Medics transported an 8-year-old passenger to a local hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck also sustained injuries and went to an area hospital for treatment.
Law enforcement suspects impairment on the part of the pickup truck driver. A full investigation is underway.
