PRAIRIEVILLE, LA – A 61-year-old man died Saturday night when his bicycle collided with two vehicles on a highway in Prairieville, reports Pelican Post News.
Police say the incident happened just after 9:00 p.m. when a northbound 2006 Toyota Camry struck the victim’s bicycle as the victim turned from a private drive onto US-61 just south of LA-73. After the initial collision, a 2020 Hyundai Kona also struck the bicycle.
The bicyclist died at the scene of the accident. Authorities have identified him as Melvin White from Gonzales.
The driver of the Toyota and the driver of the Hyundai did not sustain any injuries.
White was wearing dark clothing and did not have any lights on his bicycle. Additionally, police say he was not wearing a safety helmet at the time of the crash.
