LOCKPORT, LA – Three people died on Sunday morning when two vehicles collided on a state highway that runs along Bayou Lafourche in Lockport, 7 KPLC News reports.
Police say the crash happened around 5 a.m. on LA-308 just south of LA-3220. A northbound 2013 Ford F-250 veered across the center line on LA-308 and struck a 2010 Chrysler 300. The impact of the collision forced the sedan off of the roadway and caused the Ford to overturn.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 47-year-old Grant Gremillion of Sulphur, died at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the sedan and his passenger also died. Officials have identified them as 44-year-old Ramiro Pineda-Perez of Berwick and 38-year-old Alexander Vigil of Morgan City.
Authorities took toxicology samples from both drivers at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
