LAPLACE, LA – A 20-year-old woman from Reserve died when her car collided with a train in St. John the Baptist Parish on Saturday afternoon, WDSU 6 reports.
Police say the collision happened around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Spruce Street and Captain G Bourgeois Street. They say the driver of a 2014 Ford Focus travelled northbound on Spruce Street and ran a stop sign at the railroad crossing. The vehicle entered the tracks and was struck by a train.
The impact of the collision threw the driver from her vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital but later died from her injuries.
Authorities have identified the victim as Damonisha Davis.
