DENHAM SPRINGS, LA – A 33-year-old woman died in an early morning collision on Friday involving a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy, reports WAFB 9.
Police say the incident happened around 1 a.m. on the southbound side of LA-16 just south of LA-64.
The initial investigation indicates that a deputy in a fully-marked LPSO vehicle rear-ended a 2004 Saturn Ion that was stopped in the roadway. The deputy was responding to a call at the time of the accident.
The victim, identified as Christinia Estave, died after transport to a local hospital.
The deputy sustained minor injuries in the collision. Neither he nor the victim were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
