GONZALES, LA – A 50-year-old man died early Monday morning when his vehicle collided with another vehicle on a highway in central Ascension Parish, reports WAFB 9.
Police say the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. on Weber City Road, or LA-429, and Roddy Road.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the driver of a vehicle neglected to stop at a red light and crashed into another vehicle that had turned into the intersection from the southbound side of Weber City Road.
Authorities identified the victim as Chad Jones. Jones was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and died at the scene.
The second driver, identified as 25-year-old Jacquel Wade, went to the hospital with minor injuries.
A full investigation of the incident is underway.
