PRAIRIEVILLE, LA – A 48-year-old biker died, and his passenger was hurt when their motorcycle crashed on State Road 42 in north Ascension Parish Saturday morning, WBRZ reports.
Police say the motorcycle collided with a curb around 3 a.m. as the vehicle approached a traffic circle at the junction of State Road 42 and State Road 431.
The impact of the collision threw the driver and the passenger from the motorcycle. Neither person was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, authorities say.
The motorcycle driver, whom police have identified as Shane King, died after being airlifted to a local hospital. The passenger sustained moderate injuries in the crash.
An investigation of the incident is underway.
