1 dead, 1 hospitalized in 2-vehicle St. Landry Parish crash

ST. LANDRY PARISH, LA – Police are investigating a Friday morning crash involving two pickup trucks that killed a man on a highway in Church Point.

KLFY 10 reports that the collision happened around 9 a.m. at the junction of LA-754, or Deanne Highway, and Jessie Richard Road. The southbound driver of a GMC Sierra neglected to stop at a stop sign on Jessie Richard Road and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado that was moving eastbound on LA-754.

The driver of the Silverado, identified at 72-year-old Claude Chevis, died at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Sierra, identified as 47-year-old Willis J. Curley, sustained moderate injuries in the accident.

A full investigation of the wreck is underway.
